Delamin

Delacal - Nitrogen Flame Retardants

Delacal is a range of melamine homologues. These homologues have higher thermal stability compared to pure melamine and melamine cyanurate.  In extreme processing temperatures this range of products offer an alternative nitrogen source with reduced mould deposits.

There are three homologues: -

Delacal 360 generically known as Melam
(1,3,5-triazine – 2,4,6,triamine – n (4,6 diamino-1,3,5 triazine – 2-yl)

Formula

Delacal 360 has an onset temperature of 360°C with a decomposition temperature of 400°C.  Delacal 360 is similar to melamine, except with a slightly elevated onset temperature, but benefitting from additional nitrogen links.

Delacal 420 generically known as Melem
(-2,5,8-triamino 1,2,4,6,7,9,9b – heptaazaphalene)

Formula

Delacal 420 has a higher onset temperature of 420°C with a decomposition temperature of 500°C. Delacal 420 is the optimum grade for high thermal stability and enhanced char formation.

Delacal 500 generically known as Melon
(poly [8-amino -1,3,4,6,7,9,9b – heptaazaphalene 2 – 5 diyl] imino)

Formula

Delacal 500 is used in niche applications where thermal stability and char stability are important. This grade can be used in extreme processing conditions.

Delacal synergizes and is compatible with all phosphate and phosphinates.

Areas of compatibility
  • HTN – (High temperature Nylons)
  • PPA – (Polyphthalamides)
  • Nylon
  • PP
Benifits

Reduced mould deposits in high temperature process.
Low Smoke
Non Toxic
Zero – Halogen
Thermal stability
Engineered performance for cellulosic and hydrocarbon applications.
